Zero-Lux Environment

Meaning

A Zero-Lux Environment is a condition of complete, absolute darkness, clinically defined as having a light intensity level of zero lux, or the complete absence of visible light. This environment is physiologically critical because it is the necessary prerequisite for the uninhibited, optimal nocturnal secretion of the hormone melatonin from the pineal gland. Maintaining this state during sleep is paramount for synchronizing the circadian rhythm and supporting deep restorative sleep architecture.
