Z-Track Method

Meaning

The Z-Track Method is a specific, established intramuscular injection technique used in clinical practice to prevent the backflow or leakage of an injected substance, such as a viscous or irritating hormonal preparation, from the muscle tissue into the more superficial subcutaneous layer. This technique is employed to improve patient comfort, minimize local tissue irritation, and ensure the full, intended dose is retained for systemic absorption.
