Youthful Set-Points

Meaning

The ideal, biologically optimal reference values or thresholds around which the body’s homeostatic mechanisms regulate key physiological parameters, including core body temperature, metabolic rate, blood pressure, and circulating hormone concentrations. These set-points tend to drift or become dysregulated with age and chronic stress. Clinical interventions seek to restore these parameters to the more efficient, resilient, and higher-functioning values characteristic of young adulthood.
