YAP/TAZ Pathway

Meaning

The YAP/TAZ Pathway refers to the transcriptional co-activators Yes-associated protein (YAP) and Transcriptional co-activator with PDZ-binding motif (TAZ), which are key downstream effectors of the Hippo signaling cascade. This pathway functions as a crucial cellular mechanotransducer, sensing mechanical cues and cell density to regulate organ size, cell proliferation, tissue regeneration, and apoptosis. Dysregulation of this signaling axis is frequently implicated in oncogenesis and developmental disorders.
