Workplace Equity

Meaning

Workplace Equity, in the context of health and wellness, refers to the principle of fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all employees, while simultaneously striving to identify and eliminate barriers that have historically prevented the full participation of some groups. This is distinct from equality, as equity recognizes that different individuals may require different supports or accommodations to achieve a level playing field in their professional and health pursuits. For hormonal health, this includes ensuring equitable access to wellness benefits and clinical resources, regardless of an employee’s background or pre-existing conditions. A commitment to equity supports the overall well-being and productivity of the entire workforce.
