Wnt Signaling

Meaning

Wnt signaling is a highly conserved, complex cellular communication pathway involving a family of secreted glycoprotein ligands that play a fundamental role in embryogenesis, tissue homeostasis, cell proliferation, and stem cell maintenance in adult organisms. Its proper function is critical for tissue repair and regeneration, while its dysregulation is implicated in numerous pathologies, including cancer and various age-related degenerative disorders. This pathway is a master regulator of cell fate decisions.
