VTE

Meaning

VTE, or Venous Thromboembolism, represents a serious medical condition involving the formation of a blood clot within a vein. This umbrella term encompasses two primary clinical manifestations: deep vein thrombosis (DVT), where clots develop typically in the leg veins, and pulmonary embolism (PE), occurring when a piece of the clot breaks off and travels to the lungs.
