Voxel-Based Morphometry

Meaning

Voxel-Based Morphometry (VBM) is a sophisticated computational neuroimaging technique used to examine subtle, regional differences in brain anatomy by measuring the concentration or density of gray matter, white matter, and cerebrospinal fluid. In the context of hormonal health, VBM is employed clinically and scientifically to identify structural brain changes associated with chronic endocrine disorders or hormonal fluctuations, such as those seen in Cushing’s disease or during menopause. It provides an objective, quantitative measure of brain structure.
