Voluntary Reporting

Meaning

Voluntary Reporting refers to the non-mandatory submission of adverse event data, product quality complaints, or medication errors by healthcare professionals, consumers, or patients to regulatory agencies regarding pharmaceutical products, including hormonal therapies. Unlike mandatory reporting, this system relies on the proactive initiative of individuals to report observations that may indicate a safety concern not yet fully documented. This mechanism is critical for capturing rare or unexpected side effects that may not have surfaced during controlled clinical trials, thereby supplementing official safety surveillance efforts.
