VLDL Synthesis

Meaning

VLDL synthesis refers to the intricate hepatic process of assembling and secreting very low-density lipoproteins, which are triglyceride-rich particles. These lipoproteins are essential for transporting endogenous lipids, primarily triglycerides, from the liver to various peripheral tissues throughout the body. This biochemical pathway involves the coordinated packaging of triglycerides, cholesterol esters, phospholipids, and apolipoprotein B-100 within hepatocytes.
