Visceromegaly

Meaning

Visceromegaly is a general clinical term denoting the pathological, abnormal enlargement of one or more of the internal organs, or viscera, of the body. In the domain of hormonal health, this condition is most often clinically associated with chronic, excessive exposure to high levels of growth hormone or its downstream mediator, Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1), typically observed in conditions like acromegaly. This pathological, disproportionate growth can affect vital organs such as the liver, spleen, and heart, representing a serious clinical complication of long-term endocrine dysregulation.
