Virilization Management

Meaning

Virilization management refers to the clinical strategies and interventions employed to prevent, monitor, and treat the development of male secondary sexual characteristics in females, which is a condition known as virilization. This is a critical concern in conditions like Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), and during the use of exogenous androgens. The management goal is to mitigate symptoms such as hirsutism, voice deepening, and clitoromegaly while addressing the underlying hormonal imbalance.
