Ventromedial Hypothalamus

Meaning

The Ventromedial Hypothalamus (VMH) is a distinct nucleus within the hypothalamus of the brain that plays a pivotal and complex role in regulating energy homeostasis, particularly in the control of satiety and the modulation of glucose metabolism. It is often conceptualized as the “satiety center,” responding to various peripheral hormonal signals to regulate feeding behavior and body weight set point. Dysfunction in this region is implicated in several metabolic disorders.
