Ventricular Repolarization

Meaning

Ventricular repolarization is the essential electrical recovery phase of the heart’s lower chambers, the ventricles, following their contraction or depolarization. This crucial process involves the restoration of the resting membrane potential within cardiac muscle cells, effectively preparing them for the reception of the next electrical impulse and subsequent mechanical pump. It ensures efficient, rhythmic heart function by allowing the myocardium to relax and adequately refill with blood.
