Ventricular Hypertrophy

Meaning

Ventricular hypertrophy represents an adaptation of the heart muscle, where the walls of the ventricles, particularly the left ventricle, thicken and enlarge. This structural change typically occurs in response to chronic increased workload or pressure within the cardiovascular system, leading to an increase in myocardial cell size and, in some cases, altered collagen deposition.
