Ventricular Arrhythmias

Meaning

Ventricular Arrhythmias are a category of abnormal heart rhythms that originate specifically within the ventricles, the lower, primary pumping chambers of the heart, resulting in a rapid, chaotic, or uncoordinated electrical and mechanical contraction pattern. These electrical disturbances severely compromise the heart’s ability to pump blood effectively to the systemic circulation, often leading to immediate symptoms like syncope or, critically, sudden cardiac death. Clinically, they represent the most serious form of cardiac electrical instability.
