VEGFR2 Activation

Meaning

VEGFR2 Activation describes the specific molecular event where the Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) molecule binds to and initiates the subsequent intracellular signaling cascade of its Receptor type 2 (VEGFR2). This binding event is the most critical and primary biological switch that triggers angiogenesis, which is the physiological process of forming new blood vessels from pre-existing vasculature. Systemic hormones, notably estrogen and androgens, are known to modulate the expression and activity of both VEGF and its receptor, thereby establishing a direct link between endocrine balance and vascular health and tissue repair capacity.
