Vasomotor Instability

Meaning

Vasomotor instability is a clinical phenomenon characterized by unpredictable and disruptive fluctuations in the control of blood vessel diameter, leading to episodes of rapid and inappropriate vasodilation or vasoconstriction. This instability is most commonly recognized in hormonal health as the underlying cause of hot flashes and night sweats, collectively known as vasomotor symptoms, frequently experienced during the perimenopause and menopause transition. It represents a temporary dysregulation of the body’s thermoregulatory center in the hypothalamus.
