Vascular Toxicity

Meaning

Damage or adverse functional changes specifically affecting the blood vessels, including the endothelium, smooth muscle layer, and overall vascular structure, caused by an exogenous substance or a severe endocrine imbalance. In the context of hormonal health, excessive or improperly balanced hormone therapy, particularly with certain synthetic steroids, can induce vascular toxicity, leading to an increased risk of thrombosis, atherosclerosis, or hypertension. Monitoring cardiovascular markers is a critical component of risk management in hormone replacement protocols. This toxicity directly compromises circulatory health.
