Vascular Homeostasis

Meaning

Vascular homeostasis is the complex, dynamic state of equilibrium within the circulatory system, ensuring that blood flow, pressure, and vessel integrity are precisely regulated to meet the metabolic demands of all tissues. This includes maintaining an appropriate balance between vasodilation and vasoconstriction, preventing thrombosis, and preserving the non-thrombogenic properties of the endothelial lining. It is the fundamental condition necessary for preventing cardiovascular disease and supporting organ perfusion.
