Varicocele

Meaning

Varicocele is an abnormal dilation and tortuosity of the pampiniform venous plexus, the network of veins that drains blood from the testicle, resulting in an enlargement within the scrotum that is analogous to a varicose vein in the leg. This common condition is clinically significant as it is the most frequently identified correctable cause of male factor infertility and can be associated with testicular atrophy.
