Vagal Neuromodulation

Meaning

Vagal neuromodulation is a therapeutic strategy that involves intentionally altering the electrical activity of the Vagus Nerve, Cranial Nerve X, to restore balance within the autonomic nervous system and influence visceral function. This can be achieved through either invasive surgical implantation of a device or non-invasive external stimulation techniques. The primary goal is to leverage the Vagus Nerve’s extensive reach to modulate systemic inflammation, emotional regulation, and the overall neuroendocrine milieu. It represents a bioelectronic approach to optimizing physiological resilience.
