Urological Oncology

Meaning

Urological Oncology is a specialized sub-discipline of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of malignant tumors affecting the male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive organs. This field integrates surgical, medical, and radiation oncology approaches to address cancers of the prostate, bladder, kidney, testicles, and urethra. Given the hormone-sensitive nature of prostate cancer, this specialty is deeply intertwined with endocrinology and the therapeutic use of hormone manipulation. The goal is to achieve curative outcomes and maximize quality of life for patients.
