Urodynamics

Meaning

A series of clinical diagnostic tests that assess the function of the lower urinary tract, specifically the bladder and urethra, by measuring the physiological parameters of urine storage and voiding. These studies provide objective, quantifiable data on bladder capacity, detrusor muscle function, urethral resistance, and the presence of involuntary contractions. Urodynamics is an essential tool in urology and gynecology for accurately diagnosing the cause of urinary incontinence, voiding dysfunction, and neurogenic bladder.
