TSH Resistance

Meaning

TSH Resistance describes a physiological state where target cells, primarily within the thyroid gland, exhibit a diminished responsiveness to Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), despite the presence of normal or elevated circulating TSH levels. This cellular insensitivity means the thyroid does not adequately produce or release thyroid hormones in response to the pituitary’s signal, creating a disconnect in the endocrine feedback loop.
