Triage Theory

Meaning

Triage Theory is a biochemical and evolutionary hypothesis proposing that when the supply of essential micronutrients is suboptimal, the body prioritizes the limited resources for functions absolutely critical for immediate survival and reproduction. This physiological prioritization occurs at the expense of long-term maintenance and longevity functions, such as comprehensive DNA repair or antioxidant defense. The theory suggests that chronic, marginal micronutrient deficiencies can lead to subtle, cumulative damage that manifests as age-related diseases decades later.
