TRH Analogs

Meaning

TRH analogs are synthetic compounds structurally similar to the naturally occurring Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone, a tripeptide that plays a central role in the neuroendocrine control of the thyroid gland. These analogs are designed to possess enhanced stability, prolonged half-life, or modified receptor binding characteristics compared to the native hormone. Their primary clinical utility is as diagnostic agents for assessing the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis and, in some cases, for their potential neuromodulatory effects.
