Transport Layer Security Healthcare

Meaning

Transport Layer Security Healthcare is a cryptographic protocol that establishes a secure, encrypted communication channel between a client, such as a clinician’s browser or an electronic device, and a secure server, such as an electronic health record system. TLS is mandatory in healthcare to prevent all unauthorized interception and eavesdropping of Protected Health Information (PHI), including sensitive patient hormonal profiles, while the data is actively being transmitted across the internet or internal networks. It guarantees both data confidentiality and verifiable integrity during the transfer process.
