Transcription Factor Modulation

Meaning

Transcription Factor Modulation is the deliberate adjustment of the activity, concentration, or binding affinity of specific transcription factor proteins within a cell. Transcription factors are the final effectors in many hormonal signaling pathways, acting as molecular switches that control the rate at which genetic information is transcribed from DNA into messenger RNA. Modulating these factors allows for the targeted up- or down-regulation of entire networks of genes involved in metabolism, growth, and cellular differentiation.
