Trans Fats

Meaning

Trans Fats, or trans-fatty acids, are a type of unsaturated fat with at least one double bond in the trans geometric configuration, which contrasts with the cis configuration found in most naturally occurring unsaturated fats. These chemically altered lipids are largely the product of industrial hydrogenation processes and are structurally detrimental to human cardiovascular and metabolic health. Their consumption is strongly associated with adverse lipid profiles, systemic inflammation, and increased risk of cardiovascular disease, posing a direct challenge to longevity and metabolic wellness.
