Training Load Deconditioning

Meaning

Training Load Deconditioning is a physiological state defined by the measurable reduction in an individual’s physical performance capacity and resilience, resulting from a period of reduced or cessation of habitual physical activity, or an inappropriate reduction in training stimulus. This deconditioning leads to a reversal of beneficial training adaptations, manifesting as reduced cardiovascular efficiency, decreased muscle strength, and a decline in metabolic flexibility. It negatively impacts hormonal health by reducing insulin sensitivity and altering the anabolic-to-catabolic balance.
