Traditional Hormone Replacement

Meaning

Traditional Hormone Replacement (HR) refers to the conventional medical practice of administering hormones, typically synthetic or animal-derived, to replace deficient endogenous levels, primarily in menopausal women or men with hypogonadism. These standardized therapies often utilize fixed-dose regimens and non-bio-identical structures, such as conjugated equine estrogens or synthetic progestins. While effective for symptom relief, this approach differs from personalized bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) in its lack of customization and structural congruence with human hormones. The goal is to mitigate the immediate symptoms of hormonal deficiency.
