TLR4 Activation

Meaning

TLR4 Activation refers to the initiation of an innate immune response pathway via the Toll-like Receptor 4 (TLR4), a critical pattern recognition receptor on immune and epithelial cells. This receptor detects molecular patterns associated with pathogens, known as PAMPs, and cellular damage, known as DAMPs, leading to the rapid release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Chronic activation is a key driver of systemic inflammation.
