Title II Employment

Meaning

Title II Employment refers to the section of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) that makes it illegal for employers to use an applicant’s or employee’s genetic information in making employment decisions. This prohibition extends to all aspects of employment, including hiring, firing, job assignments, promotions, and compensation. The law protects individuals from discrimination based on their genetic makeup, genetic test results, or the manifestation of a disease in a family member. It ensures that genetic predispositions cannot be used to unfairly limit career opportunities.
