Tissue Responsiveness Index

Meaning

Tissue Responsiveness Index quantifies the sensitivity and efficiency with which target cells across various organ systems—such as muscle, liver, or adipose tissue—respond to circulating hormonal signals, particularly insulin and sex steroids. A high index indicates that physiological responses are achieved with lower circulating hormone concentrations, signifying superior receptor health and downstream signaling fidelity. Low responsiveness is synonymous with functional endocrine resistance.
