Thyroid Nodules

Meaning

Thyroid Nodules are discrete, abnormal growths of cells within the thyroid gland, which can be solitary or multiple, and are a common finding in clinical practice. These lumps can be cystic, solid, or mixed, and are often asymptomatic, but their clinical significance lies in determining whether they are benign, which is the vast majority, or malignant. Assessment typically involves a combination of palpation, ultrasound imaging, and sometimes fine-needle aspiration biopsy.
