Thyroid Markers

Meaning

Thyroid markers are a comprehensive panel of biochemical measurements used to assess the functional status of the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis and peripheral thyroid hormone action. These markers typically include Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), free and total T4 (thyroxine), free and total T3 (triiodothyronine), and various thyroid antibodies. They provide essential clinical insights into the gland’s secretory capacity and the body’s ability to convert and utilize the active hormone.
