Thyroid-Induced Alopecia

Meaning

Thyroid-Induced Alopecia is a form of diffuse, non-scarring hair loss that is a direct clinical manifestation of either an overactive thyroid gland, known as hyperthyroidism, or an underactive gland, known as hypothyroidism. This condition is a classic example of how systemic endocrine imbalances can directly impact the health and cyclical growth pattern of hair follicles. The hair loss is typically reversible once the underlying thyroid dysfunction is appropriately treated and stabilized.
