Thyroid Hormone

Meaning

Thyroid Hormone refers primarily to thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), the critical endocrine products of the thyroid gland that regulate basal metabolic rate across nearly every cell in the body. These hormones are indispensable for energy homeostasis, thermogenesis, and the maturation and function of the central nervous system. Clinical assessment focuses on ensuring T3, the active form, is adequately available for cellular action. They are the master regulators of systemic metabolic speed.
