Thyroid Dysfunction

Meaning

Thyroid dysfunction describes any condition where the thyroid gland fails to produce appropriate levels of its hormones, thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). This imbalance presents as either hypothyroidism, insufficient hormone production, or hyperthyroidism, an excess of thyroid hormones. Such deviations significantly impact systemic physiological processes.
