Thrombotic Risk

Meaning

Thrombotic risk is the quantifiable probability that an individual will develop a pathological blood clot, known as a thrombus, within a blood vessel. The formation of a thrombus can obstruct blood flow, leading to serious clinical events such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, stroke, or myocardial infarction. This risk is assessed by evaluating genetic predispositions, underlying medical conditions, and lifestyle factors that influence the coagulation cascade.
