Thrombotic Events

Meaning

The pathological formation of a blood clot, or thrombus, within a blood vessel, which can obstruct blood flow locally or embolize to a distant site, leading to potentially life-threatening conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), or stroke. These events result from an imbalance in the delicate hemostatic system, favoring coagulation over fibrinolysis. Hormonal factors, particularly certain exogenous estrogens and high-dose androgens, are known to influence this pro-coagulant state.
