Thromboembolic Events

Meaning

Thromboembolic Events refer to the pathological occurrence of a blood clot, known as a thrombus, forming within a blood vessel, which subsequently detaches and travels through the circulatory system as an embolus. This traveling clot can then lodge in a distant, smaller vessel, causing an obstruction known as an embolism, potentially leading to serious complications like deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism. These events represent a critical risk in clinical practice, especially with certain hormonal interventions.
