Thromboembolic Events

Meaning

Thromboembolic events describe the formation of a blood clot, a thrombus, within a vessel, which then detaches and travels as an embolus to obstruct another blood vessel. This obstruction impedes normal blood flow, leading to tissue ischemia or infarction in the affected region. Such occurrences require immediate medical intervention due to their capacity for severe physiological disruption.
