Third-Party Data Sharing Accountability

Meaning

The legal and ethical responsibility borne by a digital health platform or clinical service to ensure that any external entity with whom they share an individual’s health data adheres to the same stringent privacy, security, and usage standards that the original entity is bound by. This accountability is particularly relevant in the hormonal health space where data, such as genetic profiles or detailed cycle logs, may be shared with research partners, marketing firms, or AI developers. It requires the original custodian to police the subsequent use of the shared information.
