Thermal Cycling

Meaning

Thermal Cycling is the deliberate, repeated exposure of the body to alternating extremes of heat and cold, such as through sauna use followed by cold plunges or cryotherapy. This practice is employed to elicit specific physiological and hormonal responses, including the induction of heat shock proteins, modulation of the autonomic nervous system, and the release of norepinephrine. It is a non-pharmacological strategy used to enhance resilience, metabolic health, and recovery.
