Thermal Conditioning

Meaning

Thermal conditioning refers to the systematic and repeated exposure of the body to controlled environmental temperature extremes, typically cold or heat, to induce beneficial physiological adaptations. This practice is a form of hormesis, where a mild, transient stressor triggers a protective biological response that enhances cellular resilience and improves metabolic function. The deliberate application of temperature stress is used to modulate the autonomic nervous system and enhance stress-response proteins.
