Theca Cell Stimulation

Meaning

Theca cell stimulation refers to the activation of theca cells, specialized steroidogenic cells found in the ovarian stroma, primarily by Luteinizing Hormone (LH). This activation prompts the cells to synthesize and secrete androgens, such as androstenedione and testosterone, which serve as crucial precursors for estrogen production by adjacent granulosa cells within the ovarian follicle. This essential process facilitates normal follicular development and female reproductive function.
