The Master Gland

Meaning

The common, non-scientific designation for the pituitary gland, a small endocrine organ located at the base of the brain, recognized for its central role in regulating the activity of almost all other endocrine glands throughout the body. It synthesizes and secretes numerous trophic hormones that control the thyroid, adrenal glands, and gonads, thereby governing metabolism, stress response, growth, and reproduction. Its functional integrity is fundamental to maintaining overall hormonal balance and systemic health.
