Testosterone Replacement Therapy Women

Meaning

Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) for women is the clinical use of carefully titrated, exogenous testosterone to restore physiological, female-appropriate levels in women who are experiencing clinically significant symptoms related to androgen deficiency. These symptoms often include persistent low libido, decreased bone mineral density, or chronic, unexplained fatigue, despite having optimized estrogen status. The therapy involves administering testosterone in much lower doses than those used for men to maintain female reference range concentrations. This intervention is recognized as a specific treatment for Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) in certain established clinical guidelines.
